Service Foreman – Job Description

Location: Portland, MI (travel required)
Position Summary
The Service Foreman leads a skilled crew completing repairs, retrofits, and small-scope installation projects on commercial building envelopes. This role requires strong leadership, deep technical knowledge, and 10+ years of experience in construction, including metal systems and carpentry. The Foreman ensures safe, high-quality work and serves as AMI’s professional on-site representative.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership
- Lead and supervise a service crew.
- Organize daily tasks, enforce safety, and maintain productivity.
- Interpret drawings, scopes, and measurements.
- Perform hands-on work alongside the crew.
Technical Work
- Diagnose and repair air/water leaks.
- Install and repair ACM, metal wall panels, flashing, copings, roof-edge metal, AVB, sheathing, and exterior trims.
- Perform carpentry tasks including framing, backing, blocking, and exterior trim work.
- Verify field conditions and coordinate accurate fabrication needs.
Customer Communication
- Act as the on-site contact for owners, facility managers, and contractors.
- Communicate timelines, progress, and issues professionally.
- Submit daily updates, photos, and documentation to the Service Manager.
Planning & Coordination
- Plan labor, materials, and equipment needs.
- Coordinate with the shop regarding custom parts and deliveries.
- Ensure work meets quality standards and stays on schedule.
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years experience in commercial construction, architectural metals, building envelope work, or carpentry.
- Proven ability to lead small field crews.
- Strong carpentry background (framing, sheathing, exterior trim).
- Knowledge of flashing, waterproofing, and metal panel systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred
- Experience with ACM systems, insulated metal panels, and standing-seam roofing.
- Leak investigation experience.
- OSHA 10/30 certification.
